World football’s top-tier football tournament kicks off the current matchweek, including matches on Thursday, and listed are a selection of young stars poised to show their quality.

Vasilije Adzic (Juventus)

Years old: 19. Position: Central midfielder. Nationality: From Montenegro.

Vasilije Adzic signed for Juventus in the summer of 2024 following playing a key role in his former club win the domestic championship in his homeland.

He featured in nine games for Juve last season, featuring in one European match, and additionally took part in the FIFA Club World Cup final loss to City.

The youngster already received international appearances for his national team and netted on his first game.

Jobe Bellingham (Dortmund)

He joined for the Spanish champions on his eighteenth birthday after the club met his release clause.

The teenager has already made his international debut for Argentina and played in the team’s opening La Liga games.

Mayulu, Senny (PSG)

Years old: 19. Role: Central midfielder. Nationality: French.

The French midfielder has already won several titles with PSG, including the Champions League and domestic trophies.

Mayulu netted in the Champions League final win and has played for Les Bleus at under-20 level.

Ngumoha, Rio (The Reds)

Age: 17. Role: Attacker. Country: From England.

Rio Ngumoha joined the Merseyside club from Chelsea in 2024 and earned his debut at just sixteen.

Ngumoha scored brilliant goals in friendlies and became the club’s most youthful top-flight goalscorer with a winner against the Magpies.

Ethan Nwaneri (The Gunners)

Years old: 18. Position: Winger. Nationality: From England.

The Arsenal academy product made history by becoming the most youthful footballer to appear in the Premier League at 15.

He had a breakthrough season in the previous term, netting several goals and receiving a nomination for the young player award.
