Eddie Hearn Warns of Lawsuits Targeting Chris Eubank Jr Following ‘Sabotage’ Allegations
Promoter Hearn has vowed to sue targeting Chris Eubank Jr, following the boxer alleged his opponent’s team of engaging in underhand tactics and deliberate disruption ahead of their upcoming second bout.
Claims Made by Eubank Jr
The boxer, who won their initial fight by unanimous decision, stated that emergency transport taking him to hospital after the bout was prevented from leaving for 20 minutes.
“Every effort was made in an attempt to undermine me in that previous bout,” Eubank Jr stated. “Violations of agreement, fines, strict weight rules, a sabotaged weigh-in, biased commentary and officiating. Their actions continues.”
He further added that his team were blocked from entering the stadium and that stadium guards tried to slow down his entry on purpose.
Hearn’s Response
The promoter rejected the claims as “waffle” and threatened court action unless the boxer apologizes.
“He is unaware is that we possess official records on the event, which is there in black and white,” the promoter stated.
He continued, “We expect a public retraction, or we’ll be taking legal steps. These accusations personally. Our reputation is second to none.”
Family Legacy
The feud involving the two fighters originates in a long-standing generational dispute that began 35 years ago during which their fathers, Chris Eubank Sr and Benn Sr, competed in a pair of epic matches.
Remembering a Boxing Legend
During the press conference, Conor Benn paid tribute to late boxer Ricky Hatton, who was discovered deceased at his home aged 46.
“He was a figure that greatly supported me professionally but also a person that took me in as a mentor,” Benn shared. “I felt comforted when I didn’t have stability. He meant a lot to me.”
Looking Ahead to the Rematch
The rematch, marketed under “Unfinished Business,” is set to take place come November 15 inside Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
Eubank Jr has enlisted new trainer BoMac supporting him, while Benn promised to return in improved version than before.
The trainer commented, “It’s likely it’s going to be somewhat less challenging this time. He already figured him out.”
Benn retorted with a dismissive comment: “It’s amusing that he brought a new trainer in, because you know that he’ll require the help.”
