The Super Mario Galaxy Movie Trailer Is Here, Unveiling Fresh Faces Rosalina & Bowser Jr. Voice Cast

The collaboration between Nintendo and Illumination released the initial complete preview for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie on Wednesday. This occurred during a dedicated Nintendo presentation that centered on the forthcoming animated feature.

The follow-up to the 2023 hit film The Super Mario Bros. Movie, this latest chapter will send Mario to the distant reaches of the galaxy. In his journey, he meets a new princess and a powerful new opponent in Bowser Jr., the son of the King of the Koopas.

An Interstellar Journey Based on Classic Games

Much like the Wii-era games that serve as its inspiration, Mario will leave behind the well-known surroundings of the Mushroom Kingdom to journey through the cosmos. On his epic voyage, he will reunite with some familiar faces, for instance the Luma, a breakout star from the first movie.

However, it seems Mario and his brother Luigi will confront a new threat in the form of Bowser's irate young son, who reportedly wields metal-based powers. Notably, the teaser for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is not only concentrated on Galaxy-themed scenes; it also includes nods to further iconic releases like Super Mario Odyssey and Bowser's Fury.

Celebrity Voice Actors Come Back and Grow

The feature will feature once again of the initial voice actors, including Chris Pratt as Mario, Anya Taylor-Joy as Peach, Charlie Day as Luigi, Jack Black as Bowser, Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, and Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek.

New additions to the ensemble for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie are Brie Larson, who will portray Rosalina, and Benny Safdie, set to embody Bowser Jr. This was confirmed by Illumination CEO Chris Meledandri.

A Significant Period for Mario

The upcoming Mario film is set to release near the 40th anniversary of the initial Super Mario Bros. release. Apart from the cinematic release, 2026 is shaping up to be a important time for Mario and his companions.

Nintendo has three new games publicly declared for that year, including Mario Tennis Fever, a version for Switch 2 of Super Mario Bros. Wonder, and a fresh Yoshi side-scroller titled Yoshi and the Mysterious Book.

Release Date Confirmed

The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is planned for launch on April 3, 2026.
