Battlefield 6 Players Concur: Missions Are Excessively Difficult
The launch of the much-awaited Battlefield 6 received widespread acclaim, notably for its premier multiplayer mode. On Steam alone, concurrent player counts surged to nearly 750,000. Nevertheless, regardless of its fanfare, many players are protesting against a portion of the release's hardest challenges, which are required to unlock specific weapons.
Users have commenced resorting to personalized games created through Battlefield Portal to complete them, underscoring just how arduous these assignments have become.
Comprehending Battlefield 6 Tasks
Tasks represent Battlefield 6's ongoing multiplayer objectives, different from the regularly refreshed day-to-day and weekly tasks. It features four categories of assignments, but while the majority only reward skins and a few gadgets, achieving the firearm tasks is the only way of obtaining twelve from the forty-one primary weapons present in the game.
Several of these gated guns might eventually make their appearance on rankings for the best guns in Battlefield 6.
Community Frustration on Reddit
Over on Reddit, players are justifiably voicing their concerns about how difficult and grindy several of these challenges are. One user pointed out one of the most egregious examples, needed to obtain the KTS100 MK8 LMG:
- Subdue 300 opponents with LMGs
- Deal 10,000 close-range damage with LMGs
"This task is so terrible and totally unreasonable, I want to tear my hair out," is a statement that captures just how annoyingly hard these tasks are.
The suppression feature in the game is less effective than in previous titles in the series, so it lacks nearly as many advantages in battle as it did in previous games. It only registers as suppression if you miss multiple shots in a row.
At the same time, using an LMG from the hip is extremely unreliable and functions solely at point-blank proximity, which is not usually a position you prefer to be. The same user also highlighted the irony in the SMG challenge, required for the SCW-10, which demands eliminations when scoped in, when that challenge would be far more appropriate to hipfire kills, and the other way around.
Another Overly Demanding Mission
A different forum member highlighted another ridiculously tough challenge, this time in the sniper rifle category to unlock the PSR:
- Secure 150 precision takedowns from more than 200 meters away with marksman guns
This is tough enough as it is, but there's another important point to consider: many Battlefield 6 maps do not even allow combat at those extended distances.
There's a healthy variety of map sizes, but since there are only nine maps in the game right now, it restricts you to playing one of the larger locales, Mirak Valley, and perhaps Operation Firestorm at a push if you aim to take long-range shots from a significant distance.
The Alternative Method
Nevertheless, a method exists: Battlefield Portal. This portal feature is a system that permits you to design tailored experiences on the battleground of your choice, featuring computer-controlled players. This implies you can exploit the mechanics… but it doesn't exactly feel like the intended gameplay experience.
Yet, if completing the missions in a standard match appears to work against fun, since you have to play in such an unconventional way that offers no advantage to anyone, who can blame someone for completing them in a custom game so squad members are not disadvantaged?
Upcoming Tweaks
It is expected if a number of these missions are adjusted to be less difficult in the near future, because if they're not, certain gamers simply are unlikely to obtain the locked firearms.
For now, the audience continues to express their views on these demanding in-game tasks, expecting a fairer overall gameplay in coming revisions.
