I will dominate 'serious combatant' Jake Paul - Joshua

Anthony Joshua and Jake Paul face-off

Anthony Joshua will face the American YouTuber in an eight-round contest which will be streamed live on the streaming platform.

British boxer Joshua declared he will "overwhelm entirely" the American and "defeat" his opponent as the combatants confronted each other to promote the upcoming heavyweight fight.

Ex two-time unified title holder Joshua battles YouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul - in what is, by the numbers, a mammoth disparity - at Miami Kaseya Center on 19 December.

Boxer's Mindset

"I'm going to break his face and break his body up. I aim to demonstrate I'm superior," Joshua, 35 years old, declared.

"I plan to overwhelm him. That's how fighters think.

"I'm going to really want to cause him pain. That's what I want to do."

Civil Interaction

In spite of those words, a calm Anthony Joshua and social media star Paul - usually recognized for his theatrics - were respectful and remained civil with each other.

Jake Paul instead targeted former Joshua opponent Francis Ngannou and called him "not serious" after Ngannou rejected a bout proposal.

Taking Aim at Fury

Joshua, in the meantime, took aim at UK rival Tyson Fury - and rejected a £1m bet 'The Gypsy King' says he will place on a Paul win.

"[Paul] is better than Tyson Fury - he's present here," Joshua commented.

"I give him credit for that."

Legitimate Fighter

Despite stating he plans to damage his opponent, Anthony Joshua declined to talk badly about his opponent's boxing ability.

"Jake is a serious fighter," he remarked.

Jake Paul's Background

Paul - who first rose to fame on the Disney Channel - has mainly boxed MMA fighters or declining opponents since turning professional.

He was defeated by Briton Tommy Fury in 2023.

Commercial Success

Nevertheless, the relative newcomer remains one of boxing's biggest commercial attractions, frequently receiving massive earnings.

Prediction and Belief

The 28 year old predicted a stoppage in the fourth or fifth round and claimed he would stop the long-awaited Joshua–Fury fight, which is apparently in the works for two years from now.

"It's going to be me versus Tyson Fury in the coming year," Jake Paul declared.

Size Disparity

As the two fighters met for the usual face-off, with their height and weight contrast evident, it highlighted just how unlikely this entire matchup is - and how remarkable it is that the bout is actually going ahead.
